Published Sat 20 Apr 2024

Singapore Gymnastics (SG) recently conducted National Squad induction and information sessions for three disciplines – Men's Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), and Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG). The sessions took place on Saturday, April 13th, with athletes, and on Friday, April 12th, with their respective coaches and club administrators.

While this was the first time SG organised comprehensive information sessions for clubs and coaches, the induction for National Squad athletes has been an annual occurrence since the inception of the National Squad program.

The information sessions addressed several critical areas, encompassing the organisational framework, communication procedures, high-performance tactics, athlete agreements, the responsibilities of each stakeholder, selection criteria, procedures for national squad training, regulations pertaining to the national team uniform, safety guidelines, competition pathways, values, and goal setting. Moreover, participants gained insights into SG's ecosystem, particularly spexCarding, and received essential information regarding anti-doping measures and Clean Sport initiatives, emphasising the message that Clean Sport starts from You! “

In addition to the informational aspects, National Squad athletes actively engaged in developing their team values, aligning them with SG's core principles of RICE (Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, and Excellence). They also dedicated significant time to crafting their process, performance, and outcome goals for the short, medium, and long term, ensuring a holistic approach towards their personal and team development.

The induction and information sessions mark another milestone in SG's commitment to fostering excellence and holistic growth within the gymnastics community, reinforcing values of teamwork, dedication, and continuous improvement among athletes and stakeholders alike.
