Singapore Gymnastics Development Programme (SGDP)

The Singapore Gymnastics Development Programme (SGDP) is a national support framework aimed to strengthen and unite the gymnastics community in Singapore. First introduced in 2019, it aims to foster a sense of collaboration amongst clubs and the National Training Centre (NTC) by creating shared standards, aligned development practices and transparent processes. It is designed as a structured pathway for the identification and development of potential in young gymnasts aged 7 - 14 years old.

The SGDP is made up of 3 central pillars: Inspire Gymnasts, Develop Coaches and Engage Clubs. Through the SGDP, Singapore Gymnastics hopes to build a unified "One Team Singapore Gymnastics" culture across the nation. This framework represents a significant step forward in strengthening Singapore's gymnastics development system, ensuring young athletes receive consistent, high-quality support along their sporting journey.

The SGDP includes:

  • Athlete identification processes through National Championships
  • Discipline-specific selection benchmarks for MAG, WAG, and RG
  • Year-round SGDP training sessions and mini camps
  • Coach education and alignment workshops
  • Structured collaboration between clubs and national coaches

The SGDP is not an award or reward system; it is a development programme intended to uplift the overall level of gymnastics in Singapore. It aims to create equitable access to high-performance learning opportunities for gymnasts and coaches alike, and support the long-term growth of our young athletes in a safe and positive training environment.

SGDP is open to gymnasts who:

  • Are Singaporeans or PR
  • Are registered members of SG-affiliated clubs
  • Meet discipline-specific age requirements
  • Participate in the National Championships (discipline-specific athlete identification processes apply)
  • Demonstrate commitment to training, learning, and long-term development
  • Uphold SG standards for behaviour, sportsmanship, and safeguarding.

Invitations to the SGDP will be made to athletes competing at National Championships who fit the discipline-specific criteria as outlined below for 2026:
