World Gymnastics Publishes Updated Safeguarding Policy

Published Fri 16 Oct 2026

World Gymnastics has announced a new edition of its Safeguarding Policy, strengthening its framework for protecting participants and promoting a safe environment across gymnastics.

Adopted by the World Gymnastics Executive Committee in Bangkok on 2 October 2026, the revised policy takes effect upon publication. It brings the previous safeguarding policy and event rules together into one document, covering prevention, reporting, case management, Member Federation responsibilities and safeguarding at events.

The updated policy reflects current international safeguarding standards and addresses a broader range of risks, including online harm, retaliation, grooming and the protection of adults at risk. It also sets clearer minimum safeguarding standards for Member Federations.

Singapore Gymnastics encourages clubs, coaches, officials, athletes, parents and other members of the gymnastics community to familiarise themselves with the revised policy and share relevant information within their organisations.
