WAG National Programme 2025 & Beyond

Published Fri 01 Aug 2025

In collaboration with the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), Singapore Gymnastics has officially released the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) National Programme 2025 & Beyond. It sets a new benchmark for athlete development and competition standards.

Formally established in 2006, WAG has grown steadily in Singapore with clubs and schools adopting diverse training and competition models. Recognising the need for consistency and clarity, SG has developed the WAG National Programme in collaboration with community experts to provide a standardised and progressive pathway for athletes.

The manual outlines the WAG National Programme and the general technical regulations governing WAG competitions organised by Singapore Gymnastics. It is intended to:

  • Provide a standardised developmental and competitive pathway for athletes of all levels.
  • Ensure alignment with FIG standards while supporting local needs.
  • Serve as a reference for coaches, judges, clubs, schools, and event organisers.

The WAG National Programme is designed to balance participation and performance, focusing on:

  1. Participation & Growth: Increase access and involvement in WAG across schools and clubs.
  2. Developmental Consistency: Establish a clear, progressive pathway for gymnasts from grassroots to elite levels.
  3. Performance Alignment: Align the national pathway with FIG and international standards.
  4. Education & Support: Provide structured resources for coaches and judges to enhance technical knowledge and programme delivery.
  5. Community Engagement: Build a positive, inclusive environment for athletes, parents, and stakeholders.

Guiding Principles

  • Athlete-Centric Development: Prioritise long-term growth over short-term results.
  • Transparency & Fairness: Ensure clarity in programme structure, judging, and progression.
  • Inclusivity & Flexibility: Adapt to various participation levels while providing accelerated options for those identified with potential to progress further.
  • Alignment with Global Standards: Maintain consistency with FIG Code of Points and international best practices.
