Singapore Gymnastics aims to strengthen support for parents of gymnasts through a partnership with WWPIS (Working With Parents in Sport)

Parents play a significant role in initiating and sustaining a child’s participation in sport. They enable their child's participation and are their biggest cheerleader, offering encouragement and creating a positive mindset towards maintaining physical fitness through life.

Singapore Gymnastics has thus partnered with WWPIS (Working With Parents In Sport) to deliver resources to the community that supports the three most important pillars of our community when creating an athlete-centric environment; parents, clubs and coaches, but with a clear focus on Parents.

And General Manager of Singapore Gymnastics Karen Norden says this partnership is going to be very helpful to parents and their athlete children:

“Being a parent is extremely rewarding but also challenging, with no rule book to guide parents through the sporting journey. By working with WWPIS, we are reaching out to support our parents so we can work together as a community to ensure all the children involved in gymnastics can reach their full potential in life!”

Our purpose as an organisation is to support our clubs to deliver safe, enjoyable, and satisfying experiences for gymnastics participants that enrich their lives and the community. Through our partnership with WWPIS, we are taking the next steps in achieving our vision.

From the partnership, Singapore Gymnastics will have access to tailored workshops and web resources. There are customised guide books for clubs, coaches and parents, as well as interactive journals for the younger athlete and their parents. This initiative with WWPIS will go a long way to further SG’s aspiration to work in partnership with the community to create a nurturing and safe environment for all gymnasts in Singapore.
