Singapore Gymnastics has confirmed Amy Kwan as the new official Head Coach for Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG), effective 1 July 2025. This appointment follows her interim leadership since 1 April 2025. In her interim capacity, Amy skilfully guided the team through final preparations for the 2025 Junior & Senior Asian Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, held in Singapore from 16–18 May.
A former elite rhythmic gymnast from Malaysia, Amy brings a decorated competitive pedigree to the role. She clinched Malaysia's gold medal in individual ribbon at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, and also earned bronze in the individual hoop and silver with the Malaysian team. Her achievements trace back to the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where she helped her team secure a bronze in the all‑around competition.
Amy, who competed internationally for Malaysia between 2007 and 2020—including appearances at the Asian Games, World Cups, and World Championships—ended her athletic career in July 2020. She later transitioned into coaching, joining the Singapore National Training Centre’s RG program in 2022 as national coach and making important contributions.
Speaking about her appointment, Singapore Gymnastics CEO said, “Amy’s transition from elite athlete to coach—and now Head Coach—illustrates her dedication and ability to inspire and develop our gymnasts. Her experience and leadership have already strengthened the team as we head into major continental championships.”
Amy’s elevation also marks another milestone in her personal journey.
