Singapore Gymnastics was named the beneficiary of 33HEARTS Giving with Spirits, a charity fundraiser held on Friday, 1 August 2025, at 33Club. The event, organised in celebration of Singapore’s 60th birthday, brought together philanthropists, corporate leaders and supporters of sport.
Guest of Honour, Mr Yip Hon Weng, Member of Parliament for Yio Chu Kang SMC, shared personal reflections as a former school gymnast. He recalled long hours in the gym, the pursuit of perfecting routines, and learning to rise after falls from the high bar. Those experiences, he said, built the discipline and resilience that shaped his life.
“Sport builds more than medals,” he reminded the audience. “It nurtures confidence, teamwork and mental toughness—qualities that remain valuable throughout life.”
Singapore Gymnastics President, Dr Patrick Liew, spoke on how sport had transformed his own journey from a disengaged student to finding purpose and resilience. “At Singapore Gymnastics, our mission is to create a sustainable pathway where talent is nurtured and excellence is recognised on the world stage,” he said.
All proceeds from the evening were donated to Singapore Gymnastics, an IPC-registered charity and the National Sports Association for the sport. The funds, amounting to $15,206, will be channelled towards high performance coaching, international competition travel, equipment, and athlete development programmes. These proceeds will be used to support our application for the One Team Singapore Fund (OTSF) matching grant, which could potentially double the impact of the funds raised.
The success of 33HEARTS Giving with Spirits reflected growing community support for gymnastics and affirm to athletes that their dedication and hard work are recognised and backed by the wider community.
