We are pleased to report that the Board, at its meeting on 25 September 2025, approved the next SG Business Plan, covering the period from 1 April 2026 – 31 March 2030 (FY26-29). This was a significant milestone as the plan had been in gestation for over a year and there has been extensive consultation.
The plan aims to build on the strong foundations established from the previous two plans from FY18-21 and from FY22-25. Providing a full report of the progress that has been made and a clear articulation of our future direction. In doing so, SG will be seeking to:
- Grow the gymnastics industry, so the whole of gymnastics in Singapore can benefit.
- Grow the National Development Infrastructure (NDI) by re-investing the self-generated income so that it is financially self-sustaining in the longer term.
- Increase self-generated income at least equal to the Sport Singapore funding that we receive, which is invested predominantly (but not exclusively) into Performance Development.
- There are four priorities for the period FY26-29. They should not be regarded as mutually exclusive but inter-related:
- To strengthen participation through Introduction to Gymnastics (fostering a positive experience on entry into the sport) through making greater use of public facilities.
- To strengthen the National Development Infrastructure (NDI) within Singapore. The primary focus for this area will be creating a safe, fun, enjoyable environment for the development of a life-long love of the sport as well as encouraging those with the potential to challenge themselves, not just represent Singapore on the International stage, but to personally excel.
- To maximise Performance Development leading to high performance (which is defined as Asian podium level and above).
- To build Singapore’s relationships with International Gymnastics Federations, FIG and AGU, improving representation and networking, including the possibility of bidding to host the 2028 FIG Congress, with the intention of enabling Singapore to bid successfully to host a World Championships in 2031, and Asian Championships (AG and RG) in 2028, international congresses and technical meetings, and host International coaching and judge education courses.
- The Singapore Gymnastics Business Plan FY26-29 will be the vehicle through which we drive change.
Since the Board approved the SG Business Plan FY26-29 on 25 September, the Business Plan has been submitted to Sport Singapore for review and funding consideration. Sport Singapore is Singapore Gymnastics’ single biggest financial stakeholder and takes a keen interest in the vision and plans being put in place.
Since the Board approved the SG Business Plan FY26-29, there has also been an online engagement with full and club members on Monday 13 October. 43 participants signed up and heard presentations on the vision articulated within the plan and the future direction of Singapore Gymnastics from CEO Richard Gordon. Closely linked to this were presentations on two key areas of work where changes are proposed: Pillar 3- The Events Framework from Alex Ho (Events and Marketing Manager) and Pillar 4 – Performance Development from Berfin Ors (Performance Director).
The presentation decks and a copy of the recent Landscape Study of Gymnastics in Singapore, produced by Portas Consulting, have been shared with the participants.
