The Asian Gymnastics Union (AGU) have highlighted their intention to influence qualification to the
Asian Games, starting in 2026.
The AGU, at their Extraordinary Congress on 28 September 2025, announced that the 2026 Asian
Artistic Gymnastics Championships and the 2026 Asian Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will
serve as the qualification event for the Asian Games 2026. It is expected that Singapore Gymnastics
may benefit from this development. Normally, SNOC requires Team Singapore athletes to meet a
qualification mark equivalent to top 6 from the last Asian Games, either with a team or an individual
score.
AGU have indicated that the top 10 teams (one team per NOC) and individual placings (two gymnasts
per NOC for those who do not submit a team) in both WAG and MAG, for a total of 60 gymnasts each.
In RG, the top 27 in IAA (2 gymnasts per NOC) and top 14 groups in RGG (1 team per NOC) placings, for
a total of 60 gymnasts, will qualify for Asian Games 2026.
In TRA, the top 24 male gymnasts (2 gymnasts per NOC) and the top 24 female gymnasts (2 gymnasts
per nation), for a total of 48 gymnasts, will qualify for Asian Games 2026.
Although SG have previously published its Asian Games 2026 selection policies, as required by SNOC,
there will need to be changes once full details are known from AGU.
