
Originally trained as a civil engineer, Mun Wai worked with JTC and EDB in promoting inward and outward investments for Singapore Inc. Subsequently, he has been serving in the sports industry continuously since 2005. He has worked in SportSG as the Director overseeing NSA Management, and later on as Chief for Corporate Policy and Knowledge Management. While at the SportSG, his work was directly related to supporting the operations and development of NSAs. These include multi-year sports planning, outcome-based funding, facilities solutions, etc. Beyond the SSC, he has also served in various NSAs, including being the Vice President for taekwondo, Management Committee Member for athletics, Appeals Committee Member for swimming, Selection Committee Member for ice-skating, etc.
Mun Wai is now an educator, particularly in the area of coaching and mentoring at the workplace, sport management and sport coaching. Before that, he has served as Vice-Dean in the School of Medicine in the NUS. He was a Course Director for the IOC Sport Administration Programme, which was developed specifically to uplift the competencies for sport managers to support the growing sports industry. Mun Wai’s research interests include sports management and sport coaching. He has presented some of these at the European Association of Sport Management, National University of Singapore, Beijing Sport University, National Taiwan Sport University, International Council of Coach Excellence, etc.
