Singapore Gymnastics wrapped up its recent KinderGym course, held on the 20th and 21st of August 2024, with participants successfully delivering practical lessons as part of their certification. The course, aimed at equipping coaches to work with children aged 3 to 6, culminated in a hands-on experience where new coaches delivered paractical lessons to children in the ActiveSG KinderGym program, marking their final step in the certification program.
The KinderGym course offered a comprehensive curriculum focused on fundamental movement skills, foundational gymnastics techniques, and the creation of age-appropriate lesson plans prioritizing safety, engagement, and educational value. Across two days, participants engaged in theoretical learning and hands-on workshops, ensuring they gained the expertise needed to meet certification standards.
The highlight of the course was the practical teaching component, where participants delivered gymnastics lessons toActiveSG KinderGym sessions. This real-world experience allowed the aspiring coaches to put their learning into practice, test their knowledge, receive feedback, and refine their ability to create fun and supportive environments for young gymnasts.
This approach not only strengthened their coaching abilities but also emphasized the importance of physical and cognitive development at a young age. The success of the program reinforces Singapore Gymnastics' dedication to nurturing early childhood gymnastics and developing skilled coaches to contribute to the sport’s growth.
With the practical session now completed, the newly certified coaches are ready to bring their expertise to the broader gymnastics community, enriching the learning experiences of young gymnasts throughout Singapore.
