Coaches' Appreciation Night 2022

Published Sun 11 Dec 2022

On Wednesday 7 December, CoachSG honoured three of SG’s National Coaches; Park Gi Yong, Kusumi Ryosuke and Zhen Zhang. All three of our coaches had played a significant role in the gymnastics medal achievements at the 2021 SEA Games, held in 2022 in Vietnam, where SG attained 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.

The Coaches’ Appreciation Night 2022, was a celebration for all coaches, recognising their tremendous hard work, dedication, inspiration, and encouragement that have helped Singapore athletes reach their goals, especially during the challenging pandemic years.

It honoured Team Singapore coaches that had contributed to five Major Games during 2019-2022:

  • Southeast Asian Games 2019
  • Southeast Asian Games 2021
  • Commonwealth Games 2022
  • ASEAN Para Games 2022, and
  • Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

CoachSG, since 2017, have been striving to raise the consciousness of Singaporeans by publicly recognising coaches for their contributions to high performance sport, thereby raising the profile of coaches and the standing of the coaching profession.

Coaches on the night received a specially designed Team Singapore Coach medallion presented to them on stage. Only Kusumi Ryosuke was in attendance on the evening to receive his medallion due to a large number of our National Teams being overseas at camps and competitions.

SG would like to thank all coaches for their hard work and dedication as they inspire and encourage our Singapore gymnasts to reach their goals.
