Singapore Gymnastics (SG) successfully hosted its annual Club Congress 2025 on Thursday, 17 April at the Black Box Auditorium in Kallang. The event brought together 57 representatives from 22 affiliated clubs, fostering dynamic discussions, collaborative planning, and a strong, unified commitment to shaping the future of gymnastics across Singapore.
Strengthening Our Community
The congress served as a vital platform to connect SG leadership with club representatives, reinforcing SG’s commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and sustainable growth. Open conversations throughout the day tackled key issues facing the gymnastics community—including the coaching workforce, athlete development pathways, facility access, and membership engagement.
Participants welcomed the opportunity to share honest feedback and contribute to building a more cohesive and resilient ecosystem.
Spotlight on the Landscape Study
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the Singapore Gymnastics Landscape Study, commissioned by SG and conducted by Portas Consulting, a leading international sports advisory firm. The study provided valuable insights into Singapore’s gymnastics ecosystem, identified opportunities for growth, and benchmarked it against global best practices. The study drew from more than 30 stakeholder consultations and international benchmarking data.
It covered seven core areas:
• Pathway & Participation
• Providers & Programmes
• Coaching Workforce
• Facilities
• Competitions
• Club Affiliation & Membership
• Summary of Opportunities
These insights provide a strong foundation for data-informed decisions and long-term strategic planning at all levels of gymnastics in Singapore.
SG’s Vision: 2026–2029
In his presentation, SG CEO Richard Gordon introduced the organisation’s strategic direction for the next four years, framed by three essential questions:
Where are we now? Where do we want to be? How do we get there?
He outlined five key pillars of SG’s Business Plan:
1. Introduction to Gymnastics – Expanding access and foundational participation at the grassroots level.
2. National Gymnastics Development Infrastructure – Enhancing systems for club management, membership, coach education, and event delivery.
3. Performance Development – Supporting the long-term growth of athletes and coaches.
4. Events – Creating inclusive, accessible, and developmentally appropriate competition opportunities.
5. International Relations – Strengthening Singapore’s presence and partnerships on the global gymnastics stage.
Looking Ahead
Singapore Gymnastics extends sincere thanks to all clubs and participants for their active engagement, honest feedback, and collective vision. The Club Congress reinforced a shared goal: to build a vibrant, inclusive, and future-ready gymnastics community that supports everyone—from preschoolers trying gymnastics for the first time, to athletes striving for excellence on the world stage.
With continued collaboration and support, SG looks forward to growing gymnastics for all—from playground to podium.
