Singapore gymnast Amanda has achieved a historic breakthrough for the nation by becoming the first Singaporean gymnast ever to qualify for a final at the Senior World Championships, marking a defining moment for Singapore Gymnastics on the international stage.
The milestone took place at the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, held from 19 to 25 October 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The competition brought together the world’s best gymnasts — including Olympic medallists and world champions — in a display of the highest levels of skill, artistry, and athletic precision.
Amanda impressed throughout the qualification round with a poised and technically accomplished routine on the balance beam, demonstrating exceptional control, balance, and composure under pressure. Her routine earned a score of 13.300, placing her 7th overall and securing a coveted place in the beam final. This qualification marked a historic first for Singapore, as no gymnast from the nation had previously reached a final at the Senior World Championships level.
In the final, Amanda once again delivered a confident and elegant performance. Executing her routine with refined technique and artistry, she improved upon her earlier score, achieving 13.333 to finish 6th in the world. Her achievement drew admiration from spectators and judges alike, and signalled Singapore’s emergence as a growing presence in world gymnastics.
This milestone is the result of years of dedication, perseverance, and teamwork, supported by the guidance of her coaches, Coach Gerrit and Coach Zhang. Both have played instrumental roles in shaping Amanda’s development and in preparing her for success on the global stage. Singapore Gymnastics extends its appreciation to them for their unwavering commitment, expertise, and mentorship in leading Amanda to this historic result.
Beyond being an individual triumph, Amanda’s performance reflects the steady advancement of Singapore’s high-performance gymnastics programme, which continues to nurture athletes capable of competing among the world’s best. The achievement underscores the collective effort of athletes, coaches, and support staff who have worked tirelessly to elevate the standards of the sport in Singapore.
Amanda’s success in Jakarta serves as an inspiration to the next generation of young gymnasts, showing that with dedication, resilience, and strong support, Singapore athletes can stand proudly on the world stage. Singapore Gymnastics celebrates this extraordinary achievement and looks forward to building on this momentum in the years ahead.
