A Virtual Pivot: SG's First Virtual Competition a Success

Published Mon 21 Dec 2020

For the first time ever, hundreds of athletes participated in the 2020 Annual Virtual Competition.

To continue to engage our hardworking competitive athletes, Singapore Gymnastics introduced the 2020 Virtual Competition!

The competition is part of SG’s initiative to reach out to the community to come together digitally, to continue to practice sport whilst pandemic.

The idea for the Singapore Gymnastics Virtual competition was born with the goal of bringing the opportunity to compete back during the pandemic. Not as a temporary solution to the cancellation of sports events, but as a positive opportunity to move forward and bring us all back together.

Athletes selected the level and category they are in and captured amazing routines on a video within the ‘Competition Window’ - 27 November to 6 December 2020. They were given a ‘Competition Password Symbol’ which was used to validate entries into the Virtual Competition.

Affiliated clubs registered their athletes’ entries and uploaded their videos on the 6th of December 2020. All entries collected were sent to the allocated judges who then worked tirelessly for a week judging all the routines.

The results were compiled and published on the SG website.

Visit the Event Results page to view the winners' list.

All awards will be delivered to clubs in the first two weeks of January 2021.
