Singapore Gymnastics Engages the Community at Weekend With A Heart
Singapore Gymnastics (SG) participated in the inaugural Weekend With A Heart (WWAH) on 16–17 August at the National Stadium, bringing gymnastics directly to families and children as part of Singapore’s SG60 celebrations.
Organised by Singapore Pools, WWAH was a two-day festival of sport, entertainment, and community spirit, featuring a corporate football tournament, charity walkathon, and movie night under the stars. Proceeds supported a number of beneficiaries, including APSN, CPAS, Hug Community Services, New Hope Community Services, Unlocking ADHD, SportCares, and Yong En Care Centre.
For SG, the highlight was the lively “Come and Try Zone,” where children and families experienced gymnastics in a fun and accessible way. Over the two days, more than 200 children enjoyed activities such as forward and backward rolls, climbing, bouncing on mini-trampolines, ladder and agility exercises, balancing on beams, crawling through tunnels, and exploring rhythmic gymnastics (RG) equipment. Guided by experienced coaches, participants developed coordination, strength, balance, and confidence in a safe and supportive environment, while discovering the joy of movement.
By participating in events like WWAH, SG helps make gymnastics more visible and approachable to the wider public. As the national governing body, SG believes gymnastics is a fundamental sport that builds the foundations of movement — strength, flexibility, balance, and agility benefiting not only gymnastics but all other sports and physical activities.
The initiative reflects SG’s ongoing commitment to making the sport more accessible, fostering community engagement, and inspiring a lifelong love for gymnastics. By bringing the sport to the heart of the community, SG continues to nurture physical skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging among children, while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
