As part of Singapore Gymnastics Affiliation, it is important that each club has a mentor on board to support training in the workplace not just for current coaches but also to support young budding coaches. An Intermediate candidate coach will need a mentor to work with them through the activities and assessment tasks throughout this course. For some activities or workplace task, the candidate coach/mentee will need specific assistance from your mentors to complete the tasks.
The purpose of the this workshop is to give coach mentors the tools and strategies they can use when working with their mentees and other coaches, and to also share with potential mentors the SG education framework and philosophy. Please note that this coaching mentoring workshop is to support the Fundamental and Intermediate course.
Club management can nominate their suitable coach(s) for the upcoming Coach Mentor programme. Registration closes on, 7th October 2024, @1159pm
The mentor should:
be from a SG affiliated club
be a current SG Technical member & NROC registered
hold at least an Intermediate 1B coaching accreditation or above and where possible this should be relevant to the discipline.
have at least 3 years of coaching experience
have the right aptitude and attitude to guide and help junior coaches
be a coach who puts their athletes welfare at heart
abides by the coaches code of conduct and does not have any disqualifying factors, especially in view of child safety
The mentor would be expected to:
Provide supervision and guidance for the Mentee Coach during the practical experience placement
Assist with and undertake workplace evaluation tasks with the Mentee Coach
Ensure the Mentee Coach works within their level of competence
Exercise a duty of care to the coach and participants.
