UWCSEA East is hiring a Head of Gymnastics (Dover Campus) and Gymnastics Coach (Dover Campus).

 

1. Head of Gymnastics (Dover Campus)

The UWCSEA Dover Campus has a well-established and successful gymnastics programme.
Supported by a dedicated Olympic gymnastics centre, the programme serves a team of 90
competitive gymnasts and a gymnastics school programme of 400 students.
The Head of Gymnastics is responsible for the design, delivery and monitoring of the
gymnastics programme and resources; catering for a diverse range of abilities and agegroups,
from Junior School students through to competitive High School gymnasts. The Head
of Gymnastics overseas five full-time gymnastics coaches and is supported by the Activities
Coordinator and a full-time gymnastics administrator. The Head of Gymnastics works closely
with the Junior School, Middle School and High School Sports Coordinators and reports to the
Director of Activities and Sport.

The role entails
Leading the:
● planning of the annual and seasonal gymnastics school, recreational, and team training programmes
● coaching of all levels of the Gymnastics team
● development and mentoring of five assistant coaches and four part-time coaches
● smooth transition of gymnasts through from gym school to MAG and WAG higher level teams
● organisation of gym competitions, including local club invitational and regional SEASAC Championships
● development of the annual Gymnastics team calendar
● organisation of overseas trips and competitions
● implementation and monitoring of gymnastics health and safety policies and practice
● planning and provision of appropriate facilities and equipment to support the Gymnastics programme

Liaising with the:
● Sports and Activities office who will assist with facility preparation, administration and finance
● coordinators of each WAG and MAG team level to ensure there is an overview, progression and continuity across the gymnastics programme
● parents – sharing the structure and schedule of the programme and enlisting parental assistance to support the staffing and organisation of events
● Communications department to ensure Gymnastics websites, newsletters, surveys and general information follow College policies and are updated in a timely fashion
● Finance department to ensure that the Gymnastics programme remains financially sustainable
● Physical Education department scheduling the daily usage of the gymnastics facility and scheduling gymnastics coaches to assist with lessons

Competencies expectation:
● excellent communication skills
● an appropriate approach to age-group training focusing on technical competence, motivation, enjoyment, team-building and long-term success
● strong organisational skills, including a working knowledge of ‘Beyond the scores’ scoring system
● minimum qualifications: F.I.G. Level 2, British Gymnastics High Performance coach, WAG or MAG with experience coaching both WAG and MAG to a National Level
● a definite potential to inspire our gymnasts
● a commitment to a holistic education and to the mission of the school
● an ability to develop relationships based on mutual respect

2. Gymnastics Coach (Dover Campus)

Responsibilities
● Coach Gymnastics Teams (competitive gymnastics) and Gymnastics School (recreational gymnastics) classes on weekdays, weekends and holiday camps.
● Develop coaching resources and carry out training for Gymnastics school coaches.
● Assist with Physical Education classes in Gymnastics.
● Assist with the development of the Gymnastics Team programme.
● Coach in line with the Gymnastics Team programme.
● Assist in maintaining the Gymnastics centre.
● Assist with the set up of Gymnastics Centre for exhibitions and competitions.
● Assist with the organisation and running of exhibitions and competitions.
● Communicate with parents, students and coaches.

Requirements
● Qualified Gymnastics coach with experience of coaching Women’s competitive Gymnastics. Experience of the Australian of the National Development Programme would be desirable but not essential.
● Good all-round knowledge of Gymnastics and development requirements pertaining to different age groups and levels.
● Experience working in a school environment.
● Enthusiastic and motivated.
● Strong organisation and planning skills.
● Strong information technology skills.
● Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills and able to relate to students, parents and teachers with quality service.
● Able to work both independently and as a team member.
● Able to work during weekends and evenings when needed.
